Along the Rhine – “Boat Trip Included”

Day 1: Arrival in Frankfurt
Check in, Dinner and accommodation in your hotel in the Frankfurt area.

Day 2: Frankfurt – Rüdesheim
After breakfast a local tour guide will show you the most interesting places in Frankfurt. Then carry on to Rüdesheim. This small town on the Rhine is famous all over the world for its romaticism and joy. The best known alley is the Drosselgasse where most of the wine bars and restaurants can be found. These are visited for drinking, singing, dancing and listening to music until late at night. Dinner and accommodation in your hotel in the Frankfurt area.

Day 3: Rüdesheim – Boat Trip on the Rhine – Cologne
The day starts with breakfast in your hotel. The first step of today‘s excursion will take you to the pier of Rüdesheim. From here you will soon board your boat trip on the Rhine. The Rhine is one of Europe‘s main waterways. It runs through Germany over a length of 850 kms. During your trip the comfortable and elegant river boat will ply the river that cuts the old continent in two, allowing you to observe different cultures and touch splendid towns and villages with a rich past. After disembarkation continue to the Bonn/Cologne area. Dinner and accommodation in your hotel.

Day 4: Cologne – Heidelberg
In the morning your local tour guide will expect you for a city tour in Cologne. The city is built on Roman foundations and so rich in history that whenever a plot is developed, diggers bring up archeological finds to the surface. Apart from Roman remains your guide will show you romanesque churches, the famous gothic Cologne Cathedral, the historic centre, the Rhine embankment and much more. In the afternoon carry on southward. Dinner and accommodation in the Heidelberg/Ludwigshafen area.

Day 5: Heidelberg – Freiburg
After breakfast your local guide will take you on a city tour through Heidelberg in the morning. This romantic city on the Neckar is splendidly located at the margins of the Rhine plane and is dominated by the powerful walls of the majestic castle which used to be the residence of the Palatinate. Heidelberg is considered to be one of Germany‘s most beautiful cities. In the afternoon your journey will continue further South. Dinner and accommodation in the Freiburg/Black Forest area.

Day 6: Freiburg – Rhine Falls
Have a strengthening breakfast in your hotel this morning and then depart for Schaffhausen in Switzerland where you can visit the famous Rhine Falls. For the fearless there is even an opportunity to undertake a short boat trip to the centre of the basin and see this fascinating spectacle from the boat. Thereafter homeward journey.
