Berlin – A Changing Metropolis

There is no other European city which experienced such profound changes during its last 30 years. The metropolis in the heart of Europe continues to be a magnet for tourists. One constantly discovers something new and happening, as well as the quiet oases of the countless parks and gardens, beer gardens and typical pubs and restaurants…

Day 1: Arrival in Berlin
Arrival in your hotel in Berlin. After check-in you will be greeted by your tour guide who will take you on a guided informational tour “On the Traces of the Berlin Wall”. You will visit the former border-crossing point Checkpoint Charlie. A border sign and a guard’s shelter are today’s only reminders of the old border checkpoint. In the Museum at the Checkpoint Charlie you will be introduced to the history of the Wall. Return to the hotel, dinner and accommodation.

Day 2: Berlin – more than 30 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall
After your buffet breakfast, your guide will take you on a city tour of a different kind, where you will learn about “The Life of the Others”. The focus of this architecture of the former GDR. Get to know the TV Tower at Alexanderplatz, the old Stalinallee with its soviet-style apartment blocks and the East-Side-Gallery, where the longest preserved part of the Wall now stands. There you will get a first-hand experience of the East and the West. The city tour will end in the Nikolai District, the so-called cradle of Berlin. At the end of the tour you will visit the Museum of the GDR. See the everyday items used by the “Ossis” in an original GDR-style apartment or take a seat in a Trabbicar. Many interesting and unusual objects are exhibited in this museum. In the afternoon you will have time to explore on your own. Dinner in your hotel and accommodation.

Day 3: Departure
Today after breakfast you will visit the Documentation Centre of the Berlin Wall. It is part of the commemorative ensemble of the Berlin Wall in the Bernauer Straße. Here you will obtain a comprehensive insight into the history of the Berlin Wall and its consequences. After that you will depart Berlin and transfer to the airport.
