Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Eisenach
You will arrive in Eisenach early in the afternoon. Your first destination will be Wartburg Castle. It was here where Luther translated the New Testament into German during only ten weeks. During a guided tour you can see Luther’s room. Of course, no visitor should miss Luther’s house. Dinner and accommodation in a hotel in Eisenach.

 

Day 2: Erfurt and Leipzig
After breakfast continue to Erfurt, where Martin Luther graduated and where he was ordained as a priest to Leipzig. This city, rich in tradition, was often visited by Luther. It was here where he made his speech in St. Thomas’ Church in 1539, calling for the Reformation. During a guided tour you will witness many reminders of the Reformer. Dinner and accommodation in Leipzig.

 

Day 3: Eisleben and Mansfeld
Your first stop of the day will be Eisleben. A tour through the historic centre with visits to the houses of Luther’s birth and death will follow. Opportunity to have lunch. Then you will continue your journey to Mansfeld where you will go on a guided tour in the footsteps of Luther and visit his monument (Luther’s Fountain) and his school. Departure to Leipzig for dinner and accommodation.

 

Day 4: Torgau and Wittenberg
After breakfast you will continue to Torgau. A guided walking tour of the historic centre, with its castle, churches and the Katharina-Luther-Stube, will let you experience the political centre of the Reformation. Then continue to Wittenberg. A guided tour with visits to the Palace Church, the City Church and Luther’s home expect you today in Wittenberg, where Luther in 1517 nailed his 95 Theses onto the Palace Church’s door. Return to Leipzig in the afternoon. Dinner and accommodation.

 

Day 5: Departure after Breakfast
